a married couple of organists. Since 2011 they have been tied to Świdnica, where they have built one of the most prominent centres of organ music in Poland. They run the Good Music Foundation through which they pursue their mission, which is to improve the understanding of organ music. Over the 10 years of the Foundation’s operation, they have organised more than 200 concerts to which they invite oustanding artist from all over the world. The couple gives concerts in many countries of Europe as an organ duo, playing their own musical organ arrangements to 4 hands. They are parents to Bernard, Leonard, and Henryk.

ZUZANNA BATOR

active concert organist and organiser of cultural life. She graduated from the Secondary School of Music in Wrocław (organ class of Prof. Klemens Kamiński), the Academy of Music in Katowice (organ class of Prof. Julian Gembalski), and Staatliche Musikhochschule in Stuttgart (organ classes of Prof. Bernhard Haas, and Prof. Jon Laukvik). She is an awardee of numerous prizes at Polish organ competitions. She appears in many European countries as a soloist and in a duo with her husband Maciej, with whom she performs their own transcriptions of organ and symphonic compositions to 4 hands and 4 feet. Since 2012 she has lived in Świdnica, where she and her husband run the Good Music Foundation. She is the artistic director of the Foundation and of such events as the Christian Schlag International Organ Competition, the Świdnica Region Concerts, or the Schlag Symphonic Organ cycle. Together with her husband she has recorded two organ music CDs at the Church of Peace in Świdnica: ‘The Organ at Virgin Mary’s Basilica in Bardo’ and ‘The Angels are Back in Play’. In 2019 she received funding under two artistic scholarships: the Scholarship of the Minister of Culture awarded for the cycle of concerts entitled: ‘Organ Transcriptions for Children at the Church of Peace in Świdnica’, and the scholarship of the Mayor of Świdnica for a cycle of audio broadcasts and films entitled ‘Between the Organ’. Her favourite concert repertoire is the 20th century music.

MACIEJ BATOR

cantor at the Church of Peace in Świdnica. He studied the organ in Poland (graduate of the class of organ of Prof. Andrzej Chorosiński at the Chopin University of Music in Warsaw), Switzerland (a year of studes at the Conservatoire in Geneve in the organ class of Prof. Vincent Thevenaz), Germany (Musikhochschule in Stuttgart – completed post- graduate studies in the organ class of Jon Laukvik), and Sweden (numerous master courses). In 2019 he defended his doctoral dissertation and was conferred the degree of Doctor of Musical Arts at the Academy of Music in Kraków. He regularly gives concerts, promotes organ music, and the organbuilding workshop ‘Schlag and Sons’ from Świdnica. He also popularises the concept of private organ concerts referring back to the historic tradition of merchant cities. Since 2013 he has given more than 500 such popularising concerts in the Church of Peace. Together with his Wife Zuzanna he performs organ duos and transcriptions, primarily of symphonic compositions. In 2020 he was a beneficiary of the virtual scholarship awarded by the Minister of Culture under the ‘Culture in the Web’ programme. He is the founder of the first Polish Online Organ School (szkolaorganow.pl).
